Opening of the first Regional Office of the Association of Towns Awarded the Europe Prize in Kharkiv

On 22 August 2016 the first Regional office of the Association of Towns Awarded the Europe Prize was ceremonially opened in Kharkiv.

Delegations from the Association’s town members of Ankara (Turkey), Altötting, Darmstadt and Nuremberg (Germany), Częstochowa (Poland) and Girona (Spain), as well as Kharkiv’s twin cities of Tbilisi and Kutaisi (Georgia), Rishon LeZion (Israel), Jinan (China), Dugavpisl (Latvia), Kaunas (Lithuania), Lublin (Poland), Cincinnati (USA), Brno (Czech Republic), and Yerevan (Armenia).

The purposes of the Association’s regional office will include promoting the European Council awards and providing recommendations to Ukrainian towns and Kharkiv’s twin cities in their competition for the European Council awards, disseminating information about the Association’s activities, arranging national and international events aimed at promoting the ideas of European unity and European values, supporting implementation of projects between the members of the Association as well as representing the Association’s interests in Ukraine.
